Their name derives from the Latin word «gladius», meaning «sword», referring to the shape of their leaves — just like those swords carried by Roman legionnaires. Caring for gladioluses is simple: trim the stems at a 45° angle and change the water every other day. It’s also helpful to remove the lower blooms as they fade to keep the bouquet looking fresh longer.
