Bouquets of Gladiolus

Gladiolus Bouquets:

Mid-summer brings a vivid display of gladiolus blooms — eye-catching, colorful floral spears rising proudly in gardens. Though we have known them all our lives, in today’s floral design gladioli look completely different and renewed, surprising us with their modern, crisp beauty.

With their tall, upright form, gladioluses symbolize victory and strength. Their name derives from the Latin word «gladius», meaning «sword», referring to the shape of their leaves — just like those swords carried by Roman legionnaires. Traditionally, gladioluses are deemed a great choice for men’s bouquets, or as a symbolic wish of success and forward momentum — perfect for graduates, athletes, or colleagues you wish to support and honor.

At the same time, thanks to their incredible variety of shades — virtually every color except pure blue, dark blue, and black — gladioluses can also appear soft, romantic, and full of nuance, with complex color gradients and spectacular transitions between them. Bouquets with gladioluses are voluminous, airy, and full of summer’s abundance. Even a few stems look striking on their own in a tall, elegant vase.

Caring for gladioluses is simple: trim the stems at a 45° angle and change the water every other day. It’s also helpful to remove the lower blooms as they fade to keep the bouquet looking fresh longer.
