Antirrhinum
Summer is a time of abundance and variety in the garden. This is when antirrhinums, also known as snapdragons, begin to appear in our bouquets. Thanks to modern breeding, this charming garden flower has strong, sturdy stems topped with long, dense flower spikes covered in blooms of white, deep burgundy, yellow, orange and peach, as well as beautiful bicoloured flowers.
What does antirrhinum symbolize?
Antirrhinum is associated with courage — after all, its very name, “lion's mouth,” seems to suggest it. It is also a symbol of support and strength of spirit: its graceful flowers reaching upward evoke overcoming obstacles and taking important steps in life, from asking someone out to starting a new job :)
Antirrhinum also symbolizes gracefulness.
How to care for an antirrhinum bouquet
Antirrhinum looks wonderful on its own in a vase as well. Its upright flower spikes resemble bursts of fireworks and can retain their beauty for up to a week. Their care is quite simple: remove any excess leaves from the stems, replace the water with fresh, cool water every two days, and trim the stems at a 45° angle each time you change the water. As the flowers fade, it is also advisable to remove the wilted blooms at the bottom.
